Dr. Chavez is triple board-certified in Internal Medicine, Nuclear Cardiology, and Cardiovascular Disease. He is fluent in both English and Spanish.

Dr. Chavez completed his undergraduate studies at Stanford University in Stanford, CA. He graduated from Stanford with honors, receiving a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Biological Sciences. For his postgraduate studies, Dr. Chavez came back to Texas to earn his M.D. at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas. Upon graduating from medical school, Dr. Chavez underwent numerous years of postdoctoral training in Chicago at Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine, as well as the University of Chicago’s prestigious Pritzker School of Medicine.

Dr. Chavez currently maintains membership with the American College of Physicians and the American College of Cardiology. As an advocate of leading a heart-healthy lifestyle, Dr. Chavez is committed to a healthy diet and staying active. When Dr. Chavez is not practicing medicine, he enjoys taking great trips with family and friends, distance running, skiing, and fine-tuning his culinary skills to create delicious vegetarian recipes.

A native Texan, Dr. Chavez is delighted to have the opportunity to return to his home state to practice medicine with Dr. Bellur here at The Heart & Vascular Specialists.

Born in McAllen, TX, Dr. Chavez always knew that he wanted to choose a profession that would allow him to serve the greater good. He is very pleased to have put in the necessary hard work to become a specialist physician, as he is confident that his years of education and training have well prepared him to best serve the patient and make a difference in the lives of those that he serves.
